These are very inspiring make-overs – its NEVER to late to look young and stylish….
Middle-aged people gain weight more easily, particularly women. For both women and men, however, the culprit may be a hormonal imbalance. Women may experience dramatic drops in estrogen after 40 — but they lose even more progesterone, which helps balance the influence of estrogen in the body. In men, progesterone levels also drop, which causes testosterone levels to drop and leads to estrogen dominance — yes, men have estrogen, too. Though the reasons aren’t clear, scientists generally accept that high or disproportionate estrogen levels lead to weight gain.
A common misconception but try to avoid soy products–as they are natural plant estrogens–and staying away from alcohol and caffeine, as they interfere with the body’s ability to break down estrogen or control its levels. Whether you believe estrogen to be the culprit or not, you should also cut back on or eliminate highly refined or processed foods like white rice, white flour and white sugar, and avoid saturated fats. A diet based on a rich variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and seeds will promote physical fitness regardless of your age.
Over 40 fitness is not a contradiction. You can be fit and healthy at any age. When you start exercising, warm yourself up first by doing moderate aerobic or resistance training to get the blood flowing before moving on to more strenuous exercise. The older you get, the more prone you are to injury, so don’t overtax yourself — build your endurance level gradually. And of course, I highly recommend SpinGym – this is an amazing fitness product for any and EVERY age!
It’s a flat out myth that you lose beauty as you age. But it’s not a myth that some women over 40 just start to let their hair go.
Don’t do it!
See what a new hair style did for Melissa…
Wearing a hairstyle that’s in line with your natural Type of beauty can automatically take 10 extra years off your face.
• Don’t skimp on the hair products and tools you need for great style.
• Spend the 5 extra minutes it takes to really style your hair right,
and you’ll look years younger every day.
Ever notice that in some pictures, you look washed out, old, or heavier than you actually are?
Chances are, you don’t really look like that—you were just wearing clothes that conflicted with your natural beauty.
For example, here’s Miriam…
The younger you are, the more easily you can pull off trendy styles and still look pretty good.
But the older you get, the more wearing the wrong style for your Type of natural beauty ages you fast!
I’ll be the first to say that not every woman over 40 could wear Miriam’s bright, animated jacket and look good (I would look ridiculous). But it’s an item that’s true to her light, youthful energy—and she rocks it.
Tips for buying clothes for women over 40
• Never say, “I’m too old to wear that” again.
• Don’t buy clothes just because they fit—only buy things you love.
Have you been using the same colors and makeup products for decades? Or never really worn makeup because it’s a waste of time?
Your makeup can do more.
Look at Linda…
Makeup is just a tool. And when you use it right, it can bring your true beauty out.
• Always define your lips and brows to balance your face.
• Only use makeup that feels right on your face—if it doesn’t feel good, it probably
doesn’t look good either.
